My interests are vast and varied! There is just so much I want to know – about so many things!!
I’m an inquisitive student of humankind. I want to unearth the extraordinary story that I firmly believe every spirit – living or dead - possesses.
And as I go about collecting tales - my wild mind can turn the truths and details topsy-turvy and inside-out.
My first published poem was in Wee Wisdom magazine when I was 11 years old. And through the years I have never strayed too far. Using my creativity in many ways. A summer Sunday sermon….a play presented at the former one-room schoolhouse….remarks at a significant celebration…commentaries at concerts and fashion shows…meaningful words for a eulogy, an obituary, or a letter of condolence…..various toasts - to the bride….to the groom….to the grads….
While a stay-at-home mom I dabbled in freelance - producing newspaper advertorials, writing articles and newsletters for several organizations, providing technical writing as called for, and turning out a weekly newspaper column.
Re-entering the 9 to 5 workforce my library career took me from the public library, to working as a school librarian, to coordinating library services at the school divisional level.
I hold a certificate in Applied Counselling, which led me to volunteer work with a terminal care hospice and to my current (semi-retirement) position – working for a non-profit whose mandate is Restorative Justice.
I am thrilled to pursue and fulfill my passion for writing in the company of the talented wordsmiths who are the Brandon Writers Collective.
