Renee Cronley
POETRY . HORROR. CREATIVE . HISTORICAL . NON FICTION . FANTASY

I don’t recall a time in my life when my imagination wasn’t actively creating stories.  They played out like movies in the back of my mind and, as a child, I would act them out through my Barbie dolls or while playing dress-up.  This progressed to writing stories and poetry when I developed a good grasp of reading and writing.

In adulthood (where most imaginations go to die) my characters continued their endless narration—they refused to be stifled by maturity and rationality.  Instead, the cameras kept rolling and their stories continued.  Sometimes they disappeared as quickly as they came, other times I had to write them out so they’d stop bothering me.

Writing is as much a therapeutic outlet as it is a creative process—it allows me to make sense of the world around me by connecting to a variety of human experiences through world building.

As a teenager, I was known for writing and reciting poetry—I had many pieces published and performed at poetry festivals.  My poems start off as images or phrases that resonate with me and draw out powerful emotions that I translate to words then fit together like a puzzle.  They are lyrical and often rhyme because of my experience with poetry as performance pieces—I write poetry for the ear.

I have an undying love for reading, researching and writing.  There is nothing more amazing than creating something from nothing and having it take on a life of its own.
